An Evansville man is hit with at least 10 charges after being accused of hitting two police cars during a chase on the city’s west side.
Evansville Police responded to Apollo Liquor in the 13-hundred block of West Maryland just before 1 a-m Sunday, where a caller said a man was assaulting a woman inside the store.
When police arrived, the suspect took off in a brown BMW, leading police and Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputies on a chase that eventually ended at Diamond Avenue and New Harmony Road.
Police say along the way, Richard Petrig lost control of his vehicle several times, running into two police cars and hitting a telephone pole.
Petrig’s girlfriend later told police, she and Petrig were at home when Petrig told her they needed to get to the liquor store before it closed, or she was going to bleed.
He was arrested for domestic battery and several other charges. No word on the woman’s condition.
