Memorial High lockdown lifted after police chase

News

EVANSVILLE, Ind (WEHT) – Reitz Memorial High School was placed on lockdown for a while Monday afternoon due to a police chase nearby.

The chase started when deputies tried to pull over Roger Dale Hoops on an active felony warrant for possessing meth. During the chase, Hoops drove into Warrick County, and then back into Vanderburgh County.

When Hoops made his way onto South Weinbach in the area of U of E and Memorial High, Hoops got out of the car and ran away. That’s when both U of E and Memorial went on lockdown.

Hoops was arrested and taken into custody. There were no attempts by Hoops to enter any of the buildings
of UE or Memorial High School.
