Mesker Park’s Amazonia Welcomes One Millionth Visitor

News
A big moment for Mesker Park Zoo. Zoo officials and Mayor Lloyd Winnecke mark the one millionth visit to the Amazonia exhibit.

City officials say Amazonia has increased the zoo’s annual attendance by 30 percent. The attraction opened in 2008.

Leslie Kempf’s 21-month-old son, Cooper, paid the one-millionth visit.

“We came earlier this Summer several times,” said Kempf. “We pushed him around a lot. This time he got to run around a lot and look at all the animals and try to name them. That was fun watching him do that.”

The enclosed rain forest is open every day of the year.
