Monthly sewer rates could increase in Newburgh

News

NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEHT) – Monthly sewer rates in the town of Newburgh could be going up.

The Storm Water Management Board held a public meeting Monday night at Town Hall.

Board members approved raising rates from $7.50 a month to $10.50.

The increase will help fund new storm water projects.

“years ago, Newburgh suffered from a lot of development, much of which was hastily installed and now we’re feeling some of the pain from that. Now we’ve got an opportunity…Only three dollars a month per household to help raise our bonding capacity.”

The Town Council will make the final decision on October 9th.
