Mother accused of son’s death appears in court

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT)- The Evansville mom accused of neglect in connection with the death of her infant son makes her initial court appearance.

Prosecutors filed formal charges of neglect and of being a habitual criminal against Chelsea Marksberry. A judge increased her bond to 500-thousand dollars and ordered her back in court on February 26th.


According to court records Marksberry admitted to using various drugs in the days prior to 3-month old Kieran Bengert’s death. The coroner ruled the child died last week from multiple blunt force trauma.

The child farther faces murder charges, he is due in court next month.
