Evacuations underway as flooding hits Mississippi

(WEHT)- The Pearl River in Mississippi is projected to reach major flood stage by Saturday night. More than 2,000 homes are in harm’s way and first responders are on standby to rescue stranded residents.

Officials say this is the worst flooding in the region since 1983 and the Pearl River is projected to top out at 38 feet, which officials say would be historic.
