(WEHT)– Black Friday is the kick-off to the holiday shopping season, but this year, it falls later on the calendar which means the time between holidays is shorter. The US Postal Service says there are six fewer days in the shopping and shipping season than there were last year. So they’re working hard to make sure they are able to get your package to the right doorstep.

USPS says they expect to deliver more than 13 billion mail pieces this season across the country. They estimate around 800 million of them will be packages.

“Well, this is a very busy time. Our employees are working hard to make sure Christmas is delivered to our customers. But we know this is coming. We prepare all year long and there really is a feeling in the Postal Service that we want to get this job done and deliver the holidays for our customers,” Susan Wight says.
