ILLINOIS (WCIA) – Illinois has a reputation of brazen political corruption.
And now another state level lawmaker is facing federal bribery charges.
The FBI says they caught Chicago Democrat Luis Arroyo red-handed, offering a State Senator a bribe, and the Senator was wearing a wire.
Prosecutors say he allegedly agreed to pay the State Senator $2,500 a month in kickbacks to pass a law to expand video sweepstakes games.
Arroyo is out on bail.
There’s still no word on if he plans to resign.
Speaker Madigan took the first step to expel Arroyo from the statehouse Tuesday.
The FBI has arrested two other lawmakers in what has become a sprawling federal public corruption investigation.
