Man charged in Hanukkah stabbings

National News

(ABC)- Authorities have charged Grafton Thomas with a hate crime in connection with the stabbing of five people inside a rabbi’s home during Hanukkah celebrations.

Police say Thomas entered the rabbi’s home and started swinging wildly with a machete and was covered in blood when police found him. While Thomas’s family and attorney says he has a history of mental illness, he never previously displayed anti-Semitic behavior.

In the past month, 13 different attacks have been reported in New York City against members of the Jewish faith.
