(WSPA) – One South Carolinian woke up on Wednesday a Mega Millions winner!

According to a news release on Mega Millions’ website, the ticket holder in South Carolina has claimed the “largest lottery jackpot ever offered in the worldwide lottery industry — an estimated $1.6 billion ($913.7 million cash).”

“The moment we’ve been waiting for finally arrived, and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Gordon Medenica, Lead Director of the Mega Millions Group and Director of Maryland Lottery and Gaming. “This is truly a historic occasion. We’re so happy for the winner, and we know the South Carolina Education Lottery can’t wait to meet the lucky ticket holder.”

According to the release, this Mega Millions jackpot has passed the previous Mega Millions record of $656 million in March 2012 and was just shy of the $1.586 billion Powerball prize in January 2016.

If you haven’t checked to see if you’re the sole owner of the winning ticket, here are the winning numbers again:

  • 5 – 28 – 62 – 65 – 70 , plus the Mega Ball = 5
