New York City firefighter helps newly engaged couple recover ring

National News

(WEHT)- When Danny Tay proposed to his now-fiancee, Asha Cesar on New Year’s Eve, he probably didn’t think he would need the help of the New York City Fire Department. But soon after the ball dropped in Times Square, Cesar’s new ring fell too, down a grate.

After trying to call for help and attempting to fish the ring out themselves, Tay and Cesar went to the nearest firehouse to beg for help. There, they met Peter Morawek who fashioned a ring retriever out of coat hangers and duct tape and went to work.

After some time and dropping it during the first retrieval, Morawek was able to retrieve the ring once and for all.
