Northern Indiana county bans large wind turbines in rural areas

National News

INDIANA – A northern Indiana County is banning large wind turbines in rural areas.

Tippecanoe County – the Lafayette area – voted to prohibit any turbines taller than 140 feet.

This regulation will effectively shut out commercial turbines, which can range from 300 feet to 600 feet tall.

As seen at wind farms in neighboring Benton and White counties, which we recently highlighted in a special report.

Supporters of the ban say the larger turbines hamper development.

Others say it sends the wrong message about renewable energy.
