Police sergeant, good samaritan save woman from burning car

National News

(WEHT)- Sgt Timothy Bates of the Martin County Sheriff’s Office in Florida and Tony Weisman are opening up about saving someone from a burning car last week in Stuart, Florida.

Bates and Weisman both came across the scene where a young woman was trapped inside a burning car after a crash. Bates and Weisman say they had to pry open the door and carry 21-year-old Rosie Ramirez out of the car. Footage from a Sheriff’s Office helicopter shows that the car blew up roughly 20 seconds after Bates and Weisman rescued Ramirez.

Ramirez’s family says she has multiple broken bones in her legs and will have to undergo several more surgeries before learning how to walk again, but they’re grateful Bates and Weisman were there to save her.
