President Trump says he’s still considering a pardon or commutation for Blagojevich

WASHINGTON D.C. (WEHT) – President Donald Trump said he’s still considering a pardon or commutation for former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich.

When asked whether Blagojevich should give up hope of commutation or a pardon, President Trump said he didn’t think he should give up hope.

President Trump said he thinks his sentence was severe and that he’s looking into it.

A jury found Blagojevich guilty of 17 corruption charges in 2011 and he was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison.

Multiple sources said the president was on the verge of commuting his sentence in August, but Republican members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation flooded the White House with calls opposing it.
