Report of Bolton book divides lawmakers on impeachment process

National News

(WEHT) – US Senator Mike Braun (R-Ind.) said reports of an upcoming book by John Bolton are adding fuel to the fire of a hot topic.

Senators on Capitol Hill are hearing legal arguments as part of President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.

The New York Times reports, citing multiple sources, that John Bolton writes in an upcoming book that President Trump wanted to continue withholding military aid to Ukraine until the country helped with investigations into Democrats, including the Bidens.

The Democrats, using the manuscript information, continue their call for former National Security Adviser Bolton to testify.

A few Republicans agree, but other Democrats aren’t so sure.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said, “It’s increasingly likely that other Republicans will join those of us who think we should hear from John Bolton.”

However, Sen. Braun said, “I’ll just cut to the chase… it really doesn’t change anything in terms of the process.”

The president told reporters he hasn’t seen the manuscript but dismissed the allegations as false.
