Rural areas to receive boost in transportation funds, Washington Examiner reports

WASHINGTON D.C. (WEHT) – Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao announced on Monday that rural areas will be receiving up to 70% of the infrastructure funds, up from 21% in past years as part of a program called Rural Opportunities to Use Transportation for Economic Success (ROUTES).

According to the Washington Examiner, rural areas will apply for funding, which a special council will review, and funds could come as early as next spring.
