The Reverend Jesse Jackson bails inmates in Illinois

National News

(CNN) – Reverend Jesse Jackson preached a sermon of hope to inmates at the cook county jail in Illinois.

The civil rights activist started the Christmas tradition at the facility almost half a century ago.

Jackson and his coalition gave the gift of freedom by paying bail for four men who had been jailed for weeks.

The former inmates were released and celebrated the holidays.
