Hillary Clinton takes new job in Northern Ireland

National & World

(WEHT)- Former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton has been appointed Chancellor of Queen’s University, Belfast. Clinton is the 11th chancellor in the history of the school and the first woman to have that position.

In a statement, the school says Clinton made a “considerable contribution to Northern Ireland.” During the 1990s, the Clintons played a large role in ending nearly 30 years of sectarian violence in the region.

The decision comes after the university awarded Clinton an honorary doctorate in 2018. Clinton is expected to serve a five-year term.
