(WEHT)- A day after weather delayed the launch of Elon Musk’s Space X rocket, the company blew up a rocket after it passed a critical safety test.

The test simulated a situation where the launch was cut short, triggering the spacecraft to separate from the rocket and then used parachutes to return to earth.

The rocket had been used several times before so it was blown up for the purposes of this test. Several important tests remain but officials can now start the planning process for its first manned mission.
