WASHINGTON, DC (CNN) – Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will make a rare visit to Washington DC on Thursday.

A spokesperson says Zuckerberg will meet with policymakers and talk about future internet regulation.

Senator Maria Cantwell, the top Democrat on the Senate Commerce Committee will be at the meeting.

Zuckerberg’s last public visit to Washington was in April 2018, when he testified in the aftermath of the Cambridge Analytica scandal – a company that harvested the personal data of millions of people’s Facebook profiles without their consent and used it for political advertising purposes.

The Facebook spokesperson says there will be no public events planned on Thursday.
