New injectable medicine could help those battling addiction


Late last week, Eyewitness News talked to a Tri-State man who has been battling addiction to opioids for 30 years, but there could be hope in the form of an injection.

A new FDA approved drug called Sublocade is given to addicts via injection in the stomach. 

It’s a time-released medication that wills tay in the body for up to four weeks, generally reversing the addiction.

The medication will stay in the person’s system for 28 days.
