January 1 mean a lot of new for a lot of people. For one Owensboro family it means two new additions; and they may just be the first babies born in the Tri-State.

In Owensboro just after midnight on New Year’s Day, Elise and Evelyn Pope were born at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

The exact time of their birth was 12:09 and 12:10 a.m.

Evelyn Faith was first at 17” inches long and  3lb 14oz.  Elise Grace was born next at 4lb 3oz, 17” long.

Samantha Wedding and Marcus Pope believe their girls were the first born in 2019 in Daviess County and maybe even the entire Tri-State.

We plan to check around at area hospitals Wednesday morning to try and confirm if the Pope twins are the first babies born this year in our area.
