Newburgh neighborhood celebrates local girl with parade

NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEHT) – A neighborhood in Newburgh came together on Saturday to celebrate Christmas in July for a local girl’s half-birthday.

Sarah Schoenbaechler has cerebral palsy, and because of health complications, this parade could be one of her final rides.

Neighbors transformed their yards with their very best Christmas in July decorations. Sarah rode in a flamingo covered golf cart for the parade route.

Sarah’s older sister was over-joyed at the turn-out.

“It was overwhelming. Every day we would come through the neighborhood to visit with Sarah and my parents, and we would see another house that was decorated, and another and another. Last night there were 23 houses decorated, this morning there were over 60. Then by the time we went through, there was not a house that didn’t have something for Sarah,” said Katelin Bradley

The Town of Newburgh also issued a proclamation, designating July 20th as Sarah Schoenbaechler Day.
