Newburgh is holding its ‘Evening in the Park’ fireworks display on Saturday, July 2.
Alcoa and United Fidelity Bank are sponsoring the event.
The boat ramp is closing from 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. on Saturday.
Highway 662 (French Island Trail) will close at 5 p.m. from State St. to Westerfelt.
Parking is available at Newburgh Elementary, First Presbyterian Church, and Peoples Trust and Savings Bank.
Three WATS buses will be transporting people to the event starting at 5 p.m.
Handicap parking is available for those coming from the east on Highway 662. Police will direct you to the designated spaces.
Food and game booths will be available.
The booths will include cookies, cupcakes, nachos, snacks, homemade ice cream, burgers, hotdogs, bratwurst, corn dogs, fried green tomatoes, fudge, shaved ice, walking tacos, BBQ sandwiches, loaded baked potatoes, barbaritos, pizza, wings, chips, and brownies.
Glow sticks will be available as well.
The booths are run by community organizations such as churches, youth sports teams, the Kiwanis Club, the American Legion, the Castle Band, and much more.
Summer social games are being provided by Touch, Inc. starting at 5 p.m. when the streets close.
The Old Dam Band is performing their annual concert from 6-7:30 p.m.
Water St. will be open fro traffic so if you watch the fireworks in that area, do not sit in the street.
Personal fireworks are not allowed at this event.
