OFD Pushing for New Ladder Truck

The Owensboro Fire Department is trying to increase its coverage to keep up with development.

The department wants to add a new ladder truck to Station 2 on East Parrish Avenue.

Fire Chief Steve Mitchell says because of the growth in Owensboro’s east side in recent years, the department found it’s at 77% coverage in a 2016 study.

Chief Mitchell says the goal is to get back over the 85% coverage mark.

The ladder truck will cost around $900,000 to build.

Chief Mitchell says the city will have to decide whether or not to allocate the resources in April.
