Officer’s Stolen Handgun Found During Traffic Stop

A traffic stop for speeding turns into a major drug bust on a Daviess County, KY highway overnight.

Deputies say Ronald Sand, 26, of Louisville, was pulled over around 3 a.m. Thursday on the Wendell Ford Expressway for speeding.

In the car, deputies say they found meth, heroin, marijuana and various prescription drugs – as well as a stolen handgun from a Jefferson County Correctional Officer.

Sand is facing a number of charges ranging from possession of a stolen handgun to possession of controlled substances.
