Ohio Governor John Kasich enters the Republican presidential field. He formally announced his White House bid Tuesday, at The Ohio State University, his alma mater.
“I am here to ask you for your prayers, for your support, for your efforts because I have decided to run for President of the United States,” said Governor John Kasich (R) Presidential Candidate.
The 63-year-old has a resume tailor-made for presidential politics. He’s been elected twice statewide in battleground Ohio, worked in the private sector and served nearly two decades in Congress; including six-years as chairman of the House Budget Committee.
But, Kasich has a lot of ground to cover and a short time to do it. He must be in the top ten in order to participate in the GOP’s first debate.
Gov. Kasich is now expected to be traveling to early nominating states.
He is the 16th Republican candidate to enter the race.
