EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – In an effort to keep Hoosiers safe, several state emergency response agencies make a stop in Evansville.
It’s part of a statewide tour: Operation Force Multiplier.
The Indiana Departments of Homeland Security, Health and the National Guard met with first responders.
The agencies also showcased what they can offer during an emergency and brainstormed ways to prepare for a future event.
These groups often work together in natural disaster response.
“To let the community know and let the local emergency managers know, hey we are out there for support, here are the contact information. This is what we can provide. And it’s good to remind them, hey we are here, we are here in a supporting role.”
National Guard officials say local authorities often try to manage a disaster themselves. They’re hoping to encourage cities and towns to reach out for help.
