EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Kids at Daniel Wertz Elementary got a big surprise on Friday afternoon as the Pacers organization and Jakks Pacific Toys presented kids with bundles of toys.
The event, coined “Basketballidays,” presented by JAKKS Pacific Toys, featured members of the Indiana Pacemates, Indiana Fever mascot Freddy, Evansville Police Chief Billy Bolin, Deputy Mayor Steve Schaefer, and City-County Council members as nearly 300 students were surprised with toys.
“It’s such a great event to happen right around the holidays. We’re so thankful for the Pacers and Jakks Pacific Toy Company for helping provide a little extra holiday magic for our kids. Just to see their delight and smiles and screams, they were all so excited to see it,” said Daniel Wertz Elementary Principal Nathan Steele.
The 10th annual toy giveaway — in cooperation with youth-serving organizations — is part of the Season of Giving delivered by Papa John’s, and made possible by the donation of thousands of toys from JAKKS Pacific. The giveaway travels to different areas throughout the state of Indiana each holiday season.
