Millions of Christmas lights at a western Kentucky attraction will light up televisions across the nation soon.
Patti’s 1880’s Settlement in Grand Rivers will be featured in an episode of ABC’s The Great Christmas Light Fight.
No matter where you look at Patti’s 1880’s Settlement this time of year, you’ll see the Christmas lights everywhere. They’re on trees. They’re on walls and decorations. And soon, the whole nation will be able to see them.
“It’s really beautiful. It’s something to see,” says Tammy Morris, who was visiting Patti’s from Webster County.
You can see it in person, and soon on your television screens.
“We’re excited that everyone is going to get to see what we already know, how special it is at Christmas,” says Ann Martin, Director of Marketing at Patti’s 1880’s Settlement.
Patti’s is one of four places competing in next Monday’s episode. More than 1.3 million lights are used, with workers putting them up since August. Martin says producers found them through their YouTube channel.
“One of the producers saw where we did our lighting ceremony. Of course, it wowed her and she thought, ‘This is something we can roll with, get other companies in doing the same thing,’” says Martin.
“I think it’s wonderful. I like to hear that some place like this is involved in the contest,” adds Morris.
The episode was filmed last year, months before a fire damaged offices and their restaurant. Martin says they’ve had to replace some decorations, but is glad to have video to remember what it was like.
“We say Patti had a hand in it, we felt that she sent them to film because at least we got all that filming done on the interior. We don’t have the restaurant, but we have the history. We have the video of it,” Martin says.
“Go Kentucky,” says Morris.
The episode featuring Patti’s 1880’s Settlement is scheduled to air next Monday night on WEHT.
