Police investigating after murder suspect’s home shot up


EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – An Evansville woman was arrested for murder Saturday, and now police say her home was shot up.

According to a police report obtained by Eyewitness News, officers were sent to a home on South Linwood Avenue Saturday and were told the home had been shot up.

Officers said they found several bullet holes.

According to the report, a person involved told police they saw two vehicles driving down Lincoln Avenue, turn onto Linwood Avenue, then heard gun shots seconds later.

36-year-old Tanika Stewart is listed as the victim on the police report.

According to the Vanderburgh County Assessor’s Office, Stewart owns the home.

Police said the home being shot up is believed to be related to an ongoing investigation.

Earlier the same day, Stewart was arrested for the shooting death of Antonio Bushrod Jr.

She was charged with murder and is currently booked at the Vanderburgh County Jail.

According to an affidavit, police found Bushrod on the porch of a home on Morton Avenue with a gun shot wound to the chest just before 2 a.m. Saturday.

We’re told he was taken to the hospital where he later died.
