Evansville Police are looking for a suspect they say attacked a man with a knife over a cigarette.

Officers were called to the 16-hundred block of West Missouri Street around 5:30 Saturday evening.

The victim says he was in his backyard when someone approached him and asked for a cigarette.  He says when he told the suspect he didn’t have one, the man punched him in the face, then pulled out a large kitchen knife and tried to stab him several times.

The victim says he was able to fight the man off, but got a cut on the arm before the suspect ran away.
