Police pursuit ends with crash, person taken to hospital

DUBOIS COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – A police pursuit ends with a vehicle crashing and landing on its side.

According to Indiana State Police, there was a suicidal person who had a gun to his head in the middle of the roadway.

Before officers arrived, the person left the area in a vehicle. The vehicle was located but failed to stop for officers.

ISP troopers were able to set up stop sticks, but the vehicle continued forward. The vehicle hit another set of stop sticks possibly deployed by Orange County.

A short distance later, the vehicle crashed and ended up on its side.

The roadway was closed at State Road 56 and County Road 1175 West.

The driver was located and taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital, then flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.

On Friday just after 1:30 a.m., a bb gun was located inside the vehicle.

This is an ongoing investigation.
