Practice Makes Perfect: Sweat Reveals How He Devised Elaborate Prison Break

Authorities release surprising new information from former New York prison escapee David Sweat.

According to the New York Times, Sweat told authorities his escape last month with fellow inmate Richard Matt wasn’t the first time he’d left his cell without permission. According to Sweat, he left his cell almost every night for several months.
During those escapes, Sweat says he learned his way through the maze of tunnels and pipes at the Clinton Correctional Facility. He says that’s how he devised the escape route he and Matt used.

Sweat was shot during his capture and is back behind bars in isolation.

Ricard Matt was shot and killed several days earlier.
