Praying for Those Lost in a Deadly Shooting

News
A prayer vigil was held Sunday at St. Paul AME Church in Owensboro.
Members of the community, as well as members of the congregation, gathered to remember the lives of those lost in Charleston, SC, on Wednesday.

While it is a difficult time, many are opting to focus on the positive within the situation.

“A joy it is today for their death that has brought new life. Not only to our church but to America, that we are now a people coming together as opposed to a people who are apart,” said pastor Dr. William H. Hardy, “Paying tribute to those 9 individuals has brought about a new understanding of racial harmony and peace in the American system”.

The African Methodist Episcopal denomination has more than 6,000 churches across the country.
The St. Paul AME Church in Owensboro is the oldest AME church in the middle-south region.
Sunday also marked the church’s 143rd anniversary.
