Prosecutors seek death penalty against Baines

Two people charged in connection with a triple murder in Owensboro were arraigned on Tuesday. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Arnett Baines, but there is no decision concerning Cylar Shemwell.

Commonwealth Attorney Bruce Kuegel said he hasn’t made a decision on Shemwell and is still reviewing evidence.

Both Baines and Shemwell are charged with three counts of murder and one count of assault, in connection with a shooting on Audubon Dr.

Three people died and a fourth was critically injured in the shooting.

The next hearing for Baines is set for April 12, while Shemwell has a bond hearing next week.
