Repairs continue at Daviess County fire station damaged by lightning strike

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) – Repairs continue at a Daviess County fire station damaged by a lightning strike.

Daviess County Fire Chief Jeremy Smith says contractors are repairing walls and ceilings, installing new cabinets, and repairing fire engine bays at the Highway 54 fire station.

The station was damaged after lightning struck it this past July.

Equipment was moved to their station at the airport and to the Thruston Philpot Fire Department while repairs take place.

“There’s no place like home. As accommodating as Thruston has been, we are very excited to get moved back into our home station.”

Chief Smith also says they hope to be back at the station on Highway 54 before Thanksgiving.
