Retirees file lawsuit against Alcoa over life-insurance change

News

WARRICK COUNTY, In. (WEHT) — Some retired Alcoa workers filed a lawsuit against the company this week. The lawsuit is in response to a letter sent to retirees explaining that Aloca will no longer provide life insurance benefits for most retired hourly employees.

United Steelworkers and local retirees Charles Wyatt, Edmond Butch and Martin Ellison filed the suit. Wyatt is the mayor of Boonville and retired from Alcoa in 2013. The suit alleges the change violates labor agreements.

We reached out to Alcoa for comment.
