A Henderson County school bus driver has resigned after a parent told Eyewitness News the driver dropped off her kids half a mile away from their home.

Natasha Burnside said her 8-year-old and 9-year-old daughters were dropped off at Carriage Mobile Home Park after school but says they don’t live there. Burnside says her daughters were told by their bus driver to walk home down Highway 41 South.

The bus driver contacted Eyewitness News and says she would never put the children in harms way. However, she says the Henderson County School Corporation forced her to resign or face termination.

Eyewitness News contacted Henderson County School Corporation, but a spokesperson said the school would not comment, saying it is a personnel matter.
