An Evansville woman arrested in Henderson last year is set to be sentenced Monday.

A self-proclaimed witch and her boyfriend pleaded guilty in April to committing sexual offenses against children in Henderson during a party in 2013.

Jessica Smith, 29, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Henderson Circuity Court to first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor. A count of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor was dismissed.

Smith’s boyfriend, 21-year-old Michael Kurtz Jr. pleaded guilty last week to charges of first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor. A charge of using a minor under 16 in a sexual performance was dismissed.

Sentencing in Michael’s case is set for Monday, June 1.

The couple is accused of hosting a party at Smith’s residence at the time on Green River Road for children between the ages of 6 and 13.

At the party, the kids were allegedly involved in the making of and viewing of pornography, as well as live sexual performances.

Henderson Police said Smith, who describes herself as a witch, threatened to put “hexes and curses” on the group of nine juveniles if they told what had happened.
