A semi truck carrying a load of bread has caught fire on the northbound twin bridge, causing it to close.
A truck carrying bread was going north on the bridge around 2:30 when the driver said it lost traction. When the truck tried to get going again, it’s wheels spun until at least one caught fire, according to police.
For three hours, the bridge was entirely closed backing up traffic.
Around 5:30 AM one lane of the bridge was cleared to reopen to one lane of traffic. As crews began to move traffic, at least a few semi trucks on Highway 41 had trouble moving due to their brake lines freezing.
The bridge remains entirely closed while crews work to get those truck moving again.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is hoping to open at least one lane once those truck get moving as they use salt to treat the bridges for the rest of the day.
