Perry Central has learned of a possible threat to the School Corporation.
Late Wednesday night, they shared the following on their Facebook page:
“This evening, we learned of a rumor circulating about a possible threat at Perry Central. The rumor is being circulated among students on social media. We are investigating the rumor, and law enforcement, including the Perry County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police are involved. Student safety will remain our first concern, and we are doing all we can to resolve this issue.”
Perry County Sheriff’s Office responded by posting the following public statement on their Facebook page:
Earlier this evening, the Perry County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a report of threatening statements directed at the Perry Central School Corporation. Our agency is gathering information and will continue this investigation. We have been in constant contact with school officials and will work diligently to find out if this is a credible threat as school safety is high priority.
The Perry County Sheriff’s office tells Eyewitness News that they and Indiana State Police will increase their presence at the schools this morning.
