A sinkhole has opened up on Evansville’s southeast side. We’re told the hole is at the intersection of Covert Ave. and Fuguay Rd. and is continuing to get bigger.
Vanderburgh Co. Highway crews have set up a barrier in the middle of the intersection and are cutting off traffic from the area. They say the hole is about 20 feet in diameter. Officials have yet to determine what has caused this sinkhole but believe Monday’s severe rainfall may have played a factor.
Highway crews are unsure how long it will take to repair the hole, but officials say it is a very dangerous area that drivers should avoid.
