Students hold youth climate strike

Mount Vernon, Ind. – (WEHT) A demonstration took place in front of the Posey County Courthouse Friday afternoon.

A crowd of students from Mount Vernon High School were demonstrating for climate awareness, demanding government action to fight climate change.

The event even drew a counter protester

“By 2030, it’s projected that the effects of climate change will be irreversible and this includes sparing farming capabilities, which is really crucial to our region. Natural disasters. All kinds of terrible things that you know obviously we don’t want. So, we are out here supporting all of our fellow students around the world and just creating awareness,” said Kenzie Paul.

Friday’s have become the day young people across the globe use to conduct these sort of demonstrations for climate change awareness.
