Students Hop to Raise Money for Easter Seals

News

St. Benedict School in Evansville held a disabilities awareness program on Monday.

Kindergartners packed the gymnasium to hop for three minutes in order to raise money for the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center.

A representative from Easter Seals used a set of dolls with a variety of disabilities to show students how other kids adapt.

Sitting in the front row of the assembly was 6-year-old Gracie Tucker.

Gracie has spina bifida and receives services at Easter Seals.

She is this year’s child representative.

Easter Seals Special Events Coordinator Beth Poe says, “Her school participating in it shows how much her friends support her, and what she goes through, and how much they love being her friend regardless of her disability.”

More than 30 schools are participating in the “Hop-N-Ing” program.
