Suspect in Owensboro deadly shooting due in court

One of the suspects charged in January’s deadly shooting in Owensboro is due back in court on Monday.

Cylar Shemwell is charged with three counts of Murder and one count of Assault.

Police say Robert Smith, Jr., Jay Michael Sowders and Christopher Carie all died in the shooting at a home on Audubon Avenue.

Another victim, Carmen Vanegas was critically injured.

Prosecutors have not yet decided whether they will seek the death penalty against Shemwell.

His bond has been set at $250,000 million dollars.

Arnett Baines is also charged in the shootings, and faces the death penalty if convicted.

His next court date is April 12.
