Owensboro Police have arrested a juvenile following a fatal shooting.

Officers say a 17-year-old male has been charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence, receiving stolen property, and trafficking marijuana.

Police say he’s been taken to the Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

The name of the suspect has not been released by police due to the male being a juvenile.

The Daviess County Coroner’s Office has not released the name of the deceased pending notification of the family.

Officers started by investigating a reported armed robbery in the 700 block of Sycamore Street near 7th Street Sunday night around 10:30 PM.

While there, the officers say they heard multiple gunshots nearby.

They tracked them down to the area of 8th and Poplar.

There, they found a victim with a gunshot wound.

The coroner was called to the scene, and a person of interest was taken into custody.

Both the armed robbery and the shooting remain under investigation.

Police say right now it’s not clear if the two incidents are related.
