NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEHT)- A trial nearly three years in the making began Tuesday. Thaddius Rice from Newburgh faces charges of murder and neglect for the death of his girlfriend’s 10-month-old child in April of 2017.
According to the coroner, the child died from a head injury. Police said rice told them the infant fell down a flight of stairs.
Prosecutors offered to let rice plead guilty to neglect in return for a 40-year sentence. but the turned them down.
If rice is found guilty he will face life in prison without parole.
