The Tri-State is getting painted

The Tri-State is getting painted, as many murals are popping up all over the area. Bright colors, painted with inspiration are covering walls up and down.

The artists, most of them who live locally are getting the chance to paint their city.

One of the first was the mural painted on the side of Lamasco’s Bar and Grill on West Franklin street.

That mural, was the inspiration behind a new project to paint murals along W. Franklin street.

Snicker Doodle Art, is an art center in Evansville and the business is painting their own mural with local artists behind their store on West Franklin street. The piece will be a welcome banner to both Evansville and Franklin street.

The trend has also spread to downtown Henderson as the mural in Pocket Park is expected to be complete at the end of July.

“We know that in larger cities like Nashville it’s a really popular tourist attraction to visit those cities and take a picture with murals like this, ” said Emily Werthiem of Snicker Doodle Art .”So, that’s kind of what we were hoping for with this,we’re hoping that out of town guests will come and visit us here and that’s why we wanted to make sure Franklin street and Evansville was on there.”

The Snicker Doodle mural is expected to be finished this year.
