Three kayakers were pulled safely from the Patoka River northeast of Jasper on Sunday night, according to our media partner News Now Dubois County.
Indiana conservation officers searched about a six-mile stretch of the river before the kayakers were eventually rescued just north of Sultan’s Run Golf Club.
With much of the river still over its banks, it was not easy to find them.
Officers said if the kayakers did not have a cellphone with them, it might have taken much longer to locate them.
Authorities said one of the kayakers was already experiencing early signs of hypothermia.
